Clint Eastwood directed drama is about the events of January 15, 2009 where Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger undertakes an emergency landing on the Hudson River after losing power to both engines caused by a flock of geese. Sully is hailed as a hero but the authorities think otherwise and he has to fight to save his reputation and his career.
When you are on a flight, the last thing you wanna hear over the PA system is “brace for Impact”. I can’t even begin to imagine the horror the passengers went through, especially when the flight attendants kept yelling “Brace, Brace, Head Down, Stay Down”. That scene was really unsettling.
Tom Hanks as always gives an exceptional performance as Sully, and Aaron Eckhart was his usual bland self as Sully’s first officer; Jeff Skiles. But the most surprising cast was Mike O’Malley of the hit CBS Show “Yes Dear”. There really wasn’t anything to look forward to in the movie because we all know how the story played out and so it lacked any real suspense and was generaly forgettable. However for a biography, it was a pretty decent movie and so it earns 6.9/10rating on the tharevue awesome-o-metre.
